José Antonio Barceló
Began working in Barcelo & Co, at an early age. By the hand of his uncle, Don Miguel Barcelo, work in all areas of the company up to his presidency.

Now, with over 35 years of experience in designing and manufacturing the best Dominican rum, no new series were out of our stores without his personal approval. Expert in all aspects of production, also dominates the fermentation and distillation techniques through studies conducted in Germany and Spain. Master in mixtures, learned first-hand knowledge of this art, by Don Miguel Barceló, Don Cesar Garcia, Ernesto Ugone, Eugene Victor Mojica, true artisans of Dominican Rum.

This unique experience, plus his decisive role in improving the Dominican Rum, has been reflected in the various awards given, as was, to produce the best rum in the world for its Barceló Imperial ¨ 21 by the prestigious Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago, USA ¨.

Jose Antonio and Dupuy-Barceló & Co., SRL  producers of the finest rums from the Dominican Republic, proudly presents its new product line Columbus, the result of a major effort in developing a contemporary taste for rum.

Columbus offers a range of aromas and elegant flavors including Añejo, Gold and White rums. These carefully crafted with the richest native sugar cane and matured in oak barrels. Columbus rums, the latest achievements of the great history of the Barceló Family, represent a new generation in the production of rums, aged up to get an impressive level of excellence.

 

Michael Dupuy Barceló
As a youngster, spring and summer school breaks were spent working in the family business and learning the entire process, from the purchase of quality molasses through to the distillation and maturing of rum, to the actual production line for final bottling and product packaging.

A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, he specialized in marketing and product development. His campaign Sigue la Fiesta (the party goes on…) raised the bar for Barceló advertising in the Dominican Republic. His understanding of the rum industry, merged with his talent for marketing, has facilitated the launching of the Dubar brands.

Alex Dupuy Barceló
After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bently College and pursuing further studies in Business Administration at the Harvard Extension School, Alex worked at Mckann Erickson in New York. Returning to the Dominican Republic, he joined Barceló Industrial in 1997, serving as both Merchandising and Marketing Manager. In 2000, he took on the position of Events Manager, overseeing all promotional activities.

He has brought his extensive understanding of merchandising and marketing strategies to the Dubar Group.
